Hello everyone...I am new to this forum. I have a 2007 530i. This car is well kept and has 123k miles. I keep up with service religiously, and have been experiencing a weird problem. Here it goes: Well when its cold outside, or the car has been parked for a day or so, when I start the car, the vehicles engine cycles over for a long period without starting. I can assist my car, in the start, if I press or tap on the accelerator...My original thought was that it needs new spark plugs, but my i-drive says i have 80k miles left on the plugs...I was also thinking it was a fuel injection problem, and that I need to get some fuel injection cleaner? The car runs fine after it is started and will start right up when warmed up...It is just the cold start that has the hesitation to fire up, unless I give it some gas...I know that I never had to do this procedure before. The battery seems fine and is cranking the engine over at a normal pace...Is there some part in my car that assists in the initial start up??? Any thoughts??? Anything is greatly appreciated......

One possibility is that the fuel pressure is low. Only way to confirm/rule out this theory is to test the pressure on the fuel rail.

Some of the reasons for low fuel pressure ...
Fuel filter is dirty, fuel pump is on it's way out, ...

Thanks for the info...Something weird happened today..I used a different key when I started it, and it started right up without any issues. Could it be that my battery was getting low in my key fob, that when I used my spare (which I rarely use), would make the car start quicker???
I am actually thinking the car battery (not the battery in the key) is weak. Leaving the car in the cold for couple of days [with weak/partially charged battery] is resulting in slow start.
If I were you, I'd recharge the battery and go from there. If you don't drive long enough, alternator is not getting enough time to replenish the battery.
