Going to have to rebuild the motor on my 750 sport.
Thanks,

Should be OK - the weight difference between the M62 and M73 is not significant, and they use the same gearbox so mounting points will be the same. I would nevertheless probably have a jack and a block of wood handy to support the front until you have the heads off.
A quick google suggests that Richard454 and jayseitz have had one on a stand, maybe they would be able to offer input.
The BMW stand is tool #00 1 450 and the V12 holders for it are #00 1 460.
It's a bit different from a normal one: it's a 2-post stand and there are 3 holes on each side of the engine that the holder plates attach to.

Hot Rod Magazine did an engine stand durability test of several different styles a few years ago. You may be su prised to learn that they perform way beyond your ability to break them with even an enormously heavy motor, properly mounted.
If you haven't purchased the stand yet, get one with the legs that look like a U and not a T. Not even a a T with a small cross at the end. They won't break but they're more prone to tipping over. The U shaped legs stand are far more stable.

You don't want to buy those... $3500. Just throwing in useless trivia :)

rebuild the engine? take it all apart and replace the internal parts? isn't that going to cost a lot more than finding a used one in good condition and swapping it in ?

I priced it out for him a couple days ago, head gaskets + all the stuff in between is around $1600 IIRC.
Better deal than a motor with unknown mileage and without new gaskets for $1400 IMO.

They have a three wheel version (Harbor Freight) for about $20 cheaper than the 4 wheel version (about $79) pictured below...Don't buy the three wheeler!!!
These are M70s on the 4 wheelers....the M70/73 weighs in around 530lbs fully dressed...

Here's a M73 on one-

The same stand had no problem w/ a cast iron 502 big block that weighs about 185 pounds more than a M73...

Steve, you should contact Nexgen Performance in Huntington Beach. My car is there now for service and they recently parted out a 750. The engine is there and they are trying to sell it ASAP.
