ok I am like many who bought thier car without the original security system. My car is a 6/1994 335ic that was prewired for an alarm. So I bought a gen 2 two button oem alarm kit complete from another car. The whole setup remotes and all. Installed it and found after trying mulitple times that my car would just make three chirps and not lock or unlock my doors or set the alarm. I found I could make it work if I press and hold the lock button until the panic goes off then press it one more time and it actually locks the doors. If I press the unlock it will unlock them with just two chirps. To top it off the micro switches in the door are brand new and operate correctly. Windows drop and dome light turns off. The trunk light also turns off indicating that that micro switch is working correctly. I've held all of the switches and still 3 chirps. Hood switch has been plugged in and tested and disconnected and tested. Well i have run out of ideas and patience for this and i would love for this to work any help is much more than appreciated. It's driving me crazy. I've been googling for hours and no useful answers yet. One thing I've found is an open connector not sure where or what it goes to but the colors match the hood switch wiring. 475515 475516

Three chirps on the factory alarm on my 328 indicates an open door, hood or trunk. The hood switch is right behind the washer bottle, most likely the culprit. Jump across the plug to close the circuit and see if the locks work.

Hood switch has been ruled out... But thank you. I've tried two different switches and unplugging and jumping it. The door switches are brand new and doors operate correctly.

My guess is its the lock actuator in the glovebox. Only verts have that actuator. It could also be a faulty actuator in the turnk or the gas filler door. When you lock the car from the drivers side door with the key do ALL the locks lock? Both Doors, glovebox, trunk and gas filler door? Does the same thing happen when you lock the car from the passenger door? If all that works correctly then your door locks are working correctly and its not the doors that are triggering it. That alarm will work with the top up or down. Doesn't matter.
Three chirps on a 2 button fob unit indicates an open lock somewhere. You have definately ruled out the hood switch if you unplugged it at the switch. You don't need to jumper the connector. Leave it empty.

I found mine buried over on the drivers side of the car underneath the steering column. It's one wire and it's is brown green and purple with yellow stripes. Took three days of digging around on and off to find it.

So I don't believe my glove box is locking is that what that connector could be for? I'll look this weekend an update the post. Currently doing some other work on the car.

Before you pull the glovebox you should lock the car with the key and see if the glovebox locks. If it locks using the key in the drivers door then it's not the glovebox actuator

Be sure the hood switch is "switching" when the hood is closed. Might need to bend the lever that contacts the butto on the underside of the hood. Did you test it installed, closing the hood to actuate it?

He already tested the hood switch. The easiest test for the hood switch is to take the harness connector off it.
DinanDave....that wire you found under the dash is for the hood switch its not for the siren. The siren connector will be above the passenger side headlight unless you have a 92-95. If you have one of those then you have a horn installed for the alarm. That horn does not work with the 2 button fob systems. If you want to install a 2 button fob unit in a 92-95 then you have to disconnect that horn and reconnect it to a electronic siren. The horn Im talking about is on the passenger side of the car directly under the headlight and its hidden under a metal cage.

That connecter under the dash I'm thinking is for my missing glove box lock actuator. I did an entire interior swap 3 years ago and the front portion was from a coupe including the glove box. There is no lock what so ever so I'm thinking that's the issue? At least I hope that's it. I'm headed to the yard to grab one tmrw and see what that does

Is it a 2 button fob? if it is do you have an electronic siren installed or are you using a horn? The 2 button system only works with a siren.
Finally....if its a 2 button system you probably have it set to "Silent Mode". To turn off silent mode press both buttons at the same time till it chirps or 10 seconds. which ever you prefer
