I spent this past Sat at LRP for a spirited day of driving around with a multitude of Porsches. All in all, the day was great. Had a blast in the M3, and turned some pretty decent lap times. Unfortunately, my practically new (650 miles) Goodyear GS-D3's couldn't keep up so much. Chunking was a huge problem in the afternoon session, and I came away less than impressed. Granted, they could have used a little more pressure (cold was 37), but I was without my trusty Tire Gauge, and thus up a creek. Ambient temp was 62 with sun, and I can't imagine the track temp was above 80. So, without further ado, here's the damage, and now I am left to wonder if I can run them again.....(All damage was to the front left, suprise, suprise)

That looks terrible... Looks like they may have been rubbing your fenders as well though

Not stock camber...lowered on H&R sports with offset strut mounts. I am debating what to do from here...

Ouch, my friend has the GS-D3's on his 540i and while it's a good tire for the street, he had extreme front left wear issues after a DS event. (he has a lot of camber on the front w/ camber plates) The tires don't seem to hold up in extreme driving conditions. They wear out too quickly. One the other hand my Kumho MX's rocked at the same event and I don't even see much wear on them. (but my car is about 600 pounds lighter than his)

From the few people I talked to at the track about them, Goodyears are apparently trash under hard driving conditions. I ran almost new Yoko ES100's last year at Nelson Ledges and didnt have any problems at all. Goodyears are off my short list of tires, for sure.
