My passenger door doesn't seem to be sealing all the way. When I close it, sometimes the window will do the extra roll up but then come down and up over and over. Sometimes it doesn't even rise at all like it should. It feels like it's closing well enough so it seems like the latch mechanism isn't working right. When I manually press the sensor trigger part in the door opening, it works just fine. Does anyone have any trouble shooting I should do?

The microswitch that is in the striker has gone bad. Replacing it will very likely solve the problem. Had that problem on my 94 several years ago. Replaced it and it stopped occurring. You'll need to replace the striker assembly -- it's all one piece. It's not a hard job, and it wasn't expensive when I did it 8 years ago.

Are the sides interchangeable? My passenger window doesn't even work.

475452You will need two of these. Plenty of DIY threads on how to do it. Just don't loose the wire connector into the door once you unplug it.

I gotta believe these are going to be separate port or starboard peices.

EDIT: though as I climb into my car just now, they do seem exactly the same whether right side up or flipped over.

Real OEM lists only a single latch striker part.

That's a nice trick to squeeze every penny out of the OEM part. Fire a dash of WD 40 in there and use for another 75,000 miles!

I actually got a used seal, which works. I get good seal on the door, it's just that the sensor thinks the door is still open. Does that make sense? And what did you mean by remeasure the clearance? Is there an adjustment I can make to something?

To anyone interested - I've got 2 brand new latches I need to get rid of. PM me. I bought the coupe/sedan style latches and needed convertible style latches. The ones I need to sell just have a plug for the wiring in the back, while the 'vert ones have a long wiring harness that goes back into the depths of the side panel. Incidentally, since I eventually got said convertible style latches and installed them (boy what a pain compared to the metal roof versions) I haven't had any problems with my windows!
