Have a new noise/vibe coming from directly under the shifter of my 1996 328IC auto. I only hear if in motion and it is not connected to engine speed, but wheel speed. Did a forum search and sounds like the Guibo is suspect so I crawled under to inspect it and cant see any of the Guibo. It seems to be beneath a shield which is under the exhaust and completely covered. Is there any way to inspect without taking down the exhaust and shields? Thanks

These are the same symptoms my car had when the guibo was shot. There shouldn't be any heat shields or anything blocking your view of it. are you sure your looking for the right part? The guibo is a rubber connector between the transmission and the driveshaft.

I crawled under again last night and there is literally a long shield covering the entire driveshaft ( I cant see any of it... ) What a pain. I guess I will have to drop the exhaust and then this mega shield just to inspect..

Yes, there is a heat shield, but you should still be able to see the guibo. It will be visible at the open space between the front end of the heat shield and the rear end of the transmission.
