That's why I bought poly bushings, no tool needed. Knocked the old ones out with an air chisel put the new ones in by hand with lots of lube.

I used an air chisel with the bit shown in the pic, took them right out. The bit cut through the rubber and the outer metal casing. http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa243/jmo68/RTAB%20install/RTABinstallII009_zpsf846f845.jpg. You could use a recipe saw to cut the bushing too, either way, once you cut through the metal the tension is off and the bushing will come out.

There is a thread somewhere that uses a pair of 2" pipe caps, some threaded rod, washers and nuts to press the new bushing in place. It's shown with the original style bushings with the flange on one side. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?444801-Offical-RTAB-DIY-(WIthout-SPecial-TOOLS!!)&highlight=RTABs+without+special+tools

I did it with threaded rod and some various pieces of metal I had installing m3 style non-flanged bushings.

Make sure your nuts are grade 12, not the 8.8. Use grease on the rod and nuts for lubrication. It makes the job go easier.

Look up the diy by Leedogg or Leedawg or whatever. He makes his own special tool...I used it. It works great. I hacked the old one out with a drill and a sawzall.

Why did you start this with no means of reinstalling the new bushing anyways?
