Hey guys! My '94is has an issue on the with the front seats where the seat motors won't adjust the angle of the seat. It'll move back and forth and tilt just fine, but when I use the angle switch I can hear the motor, but no movement. Its that way on both sides. I'm not sure if it's the motor itself or the little gear on the inside. Will a shot motor make a sound at all, or should I take my seat off and check out the gear? Thanks!

If the motor spins and seat doesn't recline, its that little plastic white gear. This happens a good amount. It really isn't that bad to replace, though dropping $40 on that tiny plastic gear sucks.. But you have to do is disconnect battery to prevent srs light, take seat out of car and flip it over, remove any plastic cover that's on there, on bolt the motor from the gear box and unbolt the face plate of the gear box(these are all torx bolts if I remember correctly), remove the little metal worm gear with the white plastic gear attached, and pull it off and replace, make sure you replace the white gear cause there is also a pink on in the same box, be liberal with new grease, and reassemble.

IIRC ... The "white" gear is for the left tilt, green and the right tilt, and pink is the seat base. http://www.odometergears.com/products/BMW/3+Series+E36+90-00/26
