i changed my right motor mount, it was so much larger that i had to disconnect the bracket to get it in. now the two bolts on top of the bracket are the only ones making contact.

help me, why is this happening!

Well, for one, you didn't install it properly. See that little nub in your last picture (on the bottom plate of the motor mount)? That's supposed to be inside that little hole adjacent to the nut that you can also see. Also, how are you hoisting the engine? If those bottom 2 bolts aren't touching, it's probably as simple as lifting the engine up another couple inches.

ohh okay dont hate me guys this is my first time doing this. its being jacked up at the oil pan. im afraid to lift it anymore due to hoses ripping. my throttle body hose ripped already. should i disconnect them all?

Yeah you should disconnect the two upper heater hoses and the intake box. Jakerking is right, I think if you take the mount out again and put it in the bracket correctly you should be good. But raising up the engine without disconnecting a few things you risk also fracturing one of the necks on the radiator..

Wow you really polished that motor mount bracket? I think thats the easier way going about this job, instead of hoisting up the engine.

You said you took those mounting bracket completely off?

I think your mounting brackets are on upside down. Those 2 pics are from the bottom. The space between the bracket and the block is on the bottom which means you would have to RAISE the engine to get rid of that space. If the engine is already jacked up? Raising it more would make absolutely no sense.

I agree that mount is not seated correctly but spinning it to its correct orientation wont get rid of that gap between the engine and the bracket.

His old mount is like 2-3" compressed/destroyed. So he has to disconnect a few things before jacking up some before setting the new mounts in safely. Doesn't look like the mounting bracket can be put in upside down because the bolts on the bottoms are wider apart than the top.

On the contrary........it's VERY possible to put them in upside down. :(

I jack up each side one at a time when I change my motor mounts. I've never disconnected any hoses

Well yeah the bracket can't be upside down because the bolts are different on top and bottom. Ill start to try again today by jacking it up more and disconecting stuff. Thank you guys! Ill leave an update

So fly, when you change them one by one and jack up each side, what is your jack point? under the mount bracket?

Just to add paymonabrishami (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/member.php?422847-paymonabrishami) you should always use new nuts on the top/bottom of the engine mounts, they should be pinch nuts or some other style nut to prevent them from coming loose.

I checked realoem and the picture is pretty good the mount bracket base does look symmetrical (not calling you a liar lol :) ) But checked to see if M50 was the same as M52 and they are (not sure which car you were working one).

I don't have your engine but it looks just like an ICV hose that should go under the MAFS area (just after it).

I didn't realize you were talking about that hose, well you found it on Realoem, so yeah its got to go to the engine valve cover. Keep looking you will find it!
