I bought this on Ebay to diagnose my 2006 E66.

It came with a dvd for the software. I have followed the steps to a tee and it will not install properly. So, I've tried downloading numerous files from multiple forums for this cable with no luck. Either it won't install or I can't read German!!

My main issue right now is the Park Brake fault. I took it to my mechanic with the new gear kit. He took the cover off and said the gears are fine and he tested the functionality of it by watching the actuator do it's thing when he pushed the PB Button. He doesn't see anything wrong with the actuator.

Now, if my memory serves me correctly, this fault occurred around the time we had to replace the battery. Could the old battery cause this fault?

Is there a simple software program that will work with my cable so I can remove the fault? The seller suggested NCS Expert, but I have no clue the difference between INPA, SSS, Ediabas, etc.

I'm just looking for something relatively simple to fix the quirks of these cars. I don't really need to program any modules, etc.

Any advice and/or links to downloads/user guides???

Thanks in advance!!!

Brian

If all you need to do is clear an error code, I would just use INPA. If your car is a 2006 model, you will need to bridge pins 7 & 8 on your interface and run it in KCAN mode to communicate with your car but having previously purchased one of these interfaces, I can tell you that not all of them work. You only require an interface that functions in OBD mode (e.g. modified VAGCOM, EDIABAS compatible OBD, K+DCAN (running in KCAN mode) or switchable ADS/OBD interface (running in OBD mode)). Look for INPA v5.**/EDIABAS v6.4.7, which should work fine with your vehicle.

I am sure that made complete sense to most here on this forum, but to a newbie....head is still spinning!!!

first check your software dvd and look for inpa,if you have it just install that.
