e39 emissions problems [Archive] - Bimmerforums

My e39 has a check engine light on (MIL) and at the shop spit out the codes
p1421 and p1423. I dont know what they are for and /or how to repair them. So the car wont pass inspection and fails automatically :eek: because they connect to the computer OBD. If anyone has any info I would greatly appreciate it.

Here are your codes:

P1421 - Secondary Air system Bank 2
P1423 - Secondary Air system Bank 1

If your shop read the codes, how come they didn't tell you what they were?

Also - how many miles on the e39?

oh yeah and 108K
