Hi All, hoping someone can point me in the right direction here. I have DIS V57 up and running via VMware. The DIS V57 works with my 2009 e90 and I can run diagnostics. But when I try with a 2003 e46 330i it won't. Maybe someone has experienced this before and can point in the right direction.

I have the following configuration:
Thinkpad x200
Windows 7 32bit
FW disabled/No AV loaded
disconnected from Network when testing
INPA v 5.0.2
VM Ware (tried with 6.0.3 and 7.1.3 and both work)
DIS V57
Cable is a K+DCAN (INPA Compatible)

I can hook it up run DIS and it recognizes the e90 vehicle I run diagnostics and will cycle through all the test. But when I try the e46, it doesn't recognize it nor will it run any diagnostic tests.

Thanks in advance !

Interface. 2003 E46 isnt a D/K CAN car. Its ODBII. Try your interface in CAN OFF mode. (IF it has it.)

Thanks Iceman. When you say "interface", I'm not sure what you mean. Can you elaborate ?

Thanks in advance Iceman, really appreciate it.

You should have some DCAN setup utility which will swap modes, and if there was a black adaptor with the lead, plug that in too.

Thanks Enda320 ! I think I found it (and I have the adapter already :). Here is giving back to the community. Here is a link to useful K+dcan info http://www.bmw-driver.net/forum/showthread.php?t=30550

Tool utility

This is the K+DCan utility that allows you to toggle between K line & DCAN. Failure to run this correctly will mean that you will not be able to use your cable. Note: you should only have to set this up once for your car & it will remember the setting.
