Hey guys I ve been dealing with this problem for 2 months. I have a 99 e36 m3 coupe.. Took it to mechanic , we thought it was the sunroof drains , he took the headliner off and cleaned them , didnt really fix the problem..

Just installed a new hood cowl since mine was cracked , didnt help

THERE IS SUPPOSE TO BE A DRAIN BY THE WINDSHIELD-COWL- WIPERS SOMEWHERE , Can anybody take a picture and show me where would those drains be? I ve been searching it but no luck , what people describes just doesnt help without pictures :(

Thank you so much

I still think drains. You don't need to remove the headliner to get at these. Open your sunroof and look in the front corners. You should find small holes. I think there is a tube that can be knocked off. Fill a squirt bottle, like you see ketchup in at a restaurant. Soapy water and send it down the hole. GENTLY. You should get water under the car if they are working properly. Another option could be air conditioning vent clogged. Never had to deal with this on a BIMMER but on a VW it was a mess and there was over a quart of water backed up in there. Dry out the carpet with a shop vac and run the car with the ac on. You get water you got an issue. Another idea is smell for coolant as a hose could be leaking.

Thank you , it only happens after heavy rain.. There are also rear drain holes in the sunroof area . fronts are easy but not rears but since they are all taken care of , I just need to find those 2 drain holes under the hood .. Suppose to be under the hood cowl somewhere. I really need help finding them tho

Make sure that the passenger side door vapor barrier is intact .

IM 90 Percent sure there is gotta be a drain somewhere under the cowl and when the water goes under the cowl , it goes down to the cowl an then to that drain .but didnt see a drain when I replaced the cowl . Wondering where the water gets out ?

wiperbox drains are full of leaves and shit. You're welcome, when you take off the metal cowl that covers the wiper assembly and blower, you can feel them, rubber tubes, squished towards the bottom

So is that the place water goes thru when it rains? Those are the main draines? That can cause water in the rear passenger foor? Thank you I ll check that out

yes, if you flood the airbox because the drains are blocked water will end up in the footwell AND the ECU will get flooded. ask how i know

They are not by the firewall somewhere? Maybe urs
Was produced in 94 thats why you have those drains and problem?
