So I have a 1992 325ic
Engine is an M50NV. 2.5l

So Ive recently drove the car arpund. Parked it for the night. Came the next morning. Lo a s behold, it just cranks and cranks and shows no indicatio of catching.
This was a while back.
I've done everything I can think of.

Fuel pressure is okay. In fact while cranking the injectors pulse fuel just fine.
Fuel pump is okay. All fuses and relays are great.
Coils have 12v across the board.
Now when I crank there is no spark.

I have fuel, compression is great, but no spark.
Ao today I checked the resistance and ohm'd the crankshaft position sensor and the camshaft sensor.

The crankshaft sensor came out at 728 ohms.
The camshaft sensor came out at 911 ohms.

Now this is just be but both those.numbers seem wrong to me.

Can anyone else expertly confirm that it is indeed these sensors I need to replace?

Im assuming that both of these wpuld cause my no spark issue.

Your reading are close to what they should be but I guess they are actually out of spec.

Crank sensor 540 ohms, +/- 10%|
Cam sensor 1280 ohms, +/- 10%

There are some problems with aftermarket parts on these two, so just to let you know you may have to return them if you try to save a buck.

If you had very heavy rain recently it is also possible that your cowl section flooded and then flooded the DME compartment. You would have to remove the DME and open it up and expose both sides of the circuit board and clean it with denatured alcohol (mixture of alcohols) with a paint brush to get all the oxide off it. Then it must be thoroughly dried out. You can either put it back in the car or spray the circuit board with a conformal coating to protect it from oxidizing again. You also need to clean the cowl drains to prevent the DME from flooding again.

Turns out after 5 days I gave up and took a known working crank sensor off my buddies sedan 325i same year. Car fired.right up in less than half a crank, Id also forgotten to reattach the headers.to midpipe and at first I thought Id blown up and killed myself.
But it runs, another magical crank sensor problem haha.
But thanks for the help man. As far as the rain goes dry as a bone at the time and I have a stock one for fuel efficiency and a second chipped one :) So I could interchange if one went bad.
