Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could put my mind at ease. I put my 2008 318 in for it's MOT yesterday. I got a call from the garage (a large national chain) and was told that it failed because of the back tyres, which are both run flats. I was told there were slashes in both tyres and they would need replaced at £500 approx. I had not noticed any change in ride or handling. There were no dash lights warning of low pressure. I was told that sometimes the warning lights will not come on if both tyres are flat and the car resets when it is restarted after a puncture.
I presumed what I was being told was accurate and I have sympathy for mechanics who are unfairly accused of being rip offs but I was wondering what other people's experience was with run flats. Is it possible to have both tyres flat with no obvious change in handling and no warning light from the tyre pressure warning system?
Thanks!
