View Full Version : ICOM with ISTA/P on E36

Hello,
I got a problem on a 94' E36 with ICOM Clone and ista/p.
When i try to update DME i can read out VIN but the point who should be yellow is grey and i can't programm anything.
Ista/d work without problems.
Any ideas?

You would need to remove the chip and fit a new one.

what a chip?
with winkfp and dcan cable i can programm without a problem. I believe rather it's a problem with programming voltage on pin 18.

It's unlikely you could reprogram the 328i.
1994 is pretty early, the ECUs fitted to them often tended to be one-time-programmable.

i don't think so....with winkfp i can reprogramm both cars. And i also programmed a E34 525i M50 from '92 with winkfp. I think its a problem with icom Clone...

update your icom to newest firmware, see what happens. If it fails to update then you know you have a bad clone.

Now i update my clone to newest firmware without any problems. It works again.
Today i try to to de-air SMG gearbox clutch with ista/d. It did not work. I can't select the first point in the list. It's shaded in grey:pissed
But i got many E36 in my garage and need Ista/p and d on this car's.
Is the only opportunity to buy a genuine Icom?

why not use dis v44 for smg bleeding it would be less trouble?

I did not have dis v44. And i buyed icom to manage all car's with it. Bmw dealers did not have dis v44 and they can do anything on E36. The only thing i want know is the problem with my clone or any clone.
Maybe i will buy a other clone and test it. Or someone in forum got a clone who work "perfectly" with E36 and tell me where i can buy it.
With E36, actually B3 build in January 95 DME 3.31, I have the same problems. The only head who is working for me is original EDIC with T30 native installation. Any other Interface ADS doitauto wont reconize the DME. Because I want buy ICOM too, I am interrest about a solution or a ICOM head who is working.

Hi, especially for the E36 (year 94/95) type I often can only use the T30 or the GT1 with the original head. I have a doitauto ADS, DCAN and an old switchable black OBD box. All of them are working on any other cars with VMWare DIS and INPA together. I am still checking the conditions, but the time is always my problem. I buy a ICOM head because of the other cars I have to work. But I will still not sale the old original head, because of the E36 and other old models. About the ICOM there are for me some things not clearified yet. I see you are from Germany may be we can share our experiences via PM.

ISTA/d & /p works on 1999 & up and I have found a lot of the times it has issues with certain 1999 models. At the dealer here in USA socal they use the GT1/DIS for the early cars as there are many communication issues with the ICOM/ISTA. I've had to re-purchase a GT1 just for my older cars, 94 & 97 E36.
