Just bought a 2003 525iAT. Does anyone know if the factory offers a service manual for this car? Is there an old fashon bound book available or is it a CD, and is it available to the general public?

There is a Bentley manual available for your car, 2 big fat books.
Also the information on the bmw parts cd's, etk, tis, can be of help in repairs.

Thanks for the reply. Are the Bently manuals complete or are they like the Chiltons- fire kindling? Thanks again in advance. R

The Bentley manuals are very thorough, in general. I have seen two mistakes in the e28 Bentley, and the sunroof literature sucks, but the Haynes isn't even worth kindling compared to it. The fact that the e39 Bentley is two volumes, I would think it is a good investment. There are factory shop manuals available from BMW, as well, but I would be interested to see how easily they would sell one. Seeing as they don't want you to work on your own car...
