The ride is more comfortable and steering is much easier with these wheels. I like the look and I'm liking it more everytime I see it. Perhaps in time I'll like it more then my HM2's.
They're SSR GT3 bright satin finish with polished lip 18x8.5 front and 18.9.5 rear.
Here are a couple pics what do you guys/gals think?

Looks great...! Goes good with the color of the car.
Hamanns are pretty old but I still like the look too...
What you do with your Hamanns? :devillook

Thanks EndangeredBeatz!
I still have the Hamann HM2's 19x8.5 and 19x10. I have one curb rash on the wheel thats just a surface rash but sizable about 4 inches getting fixed and then I'll put them up for sale probably. Rear tires on them are two weeks old and fronts have about 70 percent tread. Tires are PZero Rosso's big baller 275/35/19 rear 245/35/19 front.

Humanoid, I have a question for you. Did u install that exhaust comfortably with the stock rear bumper on?? I would like to do the same thing with my car, what type of exhaust is that too?? thanx in advance.

I was wondering the same thing about the exhaust. I often wonder why BMW didn't make a cut out for the stock bumpers. Looks weird to me not seeing an exhaust.
The new wheels look great! I can't wait till I can afford some 18x9.5's

Well, it looks alright. The wheels are most def. played out. Otherwise car looks clean. Why does the exhaust hang so low? :redspot

Yep, for my car (Orient Blue) I only had two wheel choices that looked good for it IMO and I already had one of them. Both of them were pretty much played out:)
I never base my decisions on the played out theme as it's never part of the equation. This way, I can only blame myself for my own choices and nobody else:) I learned that the hardway many moons ago:)
I do regard others oppinions highly, but the number one decision is from the person who has to live with it day in and day out. At the same time looking for exceptance from other enthusiast is part of the decision, therefore, a very difficult one at times.
There are a few other wheels I like but, they are very very expensive. I'll name a few makers, Fikse, HRE, Kinesis.
I very much dislike the look of the exhaust and it's hard to get a good fitment with the Dinan exhaust on an e39 oem bumper. It is an eye sore to me and the only thing I don't like with my ride. I'm working on it, not sure what I'm going to do but, I want a quad setup without changing my bumper or losing my spare tire. Probably something like a Stinger (Borla) setup but only quieter.
Notching the valance is an option, but not for the Dinan exhaust as it wouldn't make much of a difference.

Thats cool humanoid, just some food for though I met a guy named Jon(RevHigh) at a local dyno war with a SCIK e39 that had very impressive numbers. Had some powder coated wheels and was slammed, but rode real nice. For the exhaust he had 3" with high flow cats to a Borla DTM muffler. The car was all around sweet. Probably one of the best e39's ive seen out there. You should check it out.

Congrats, you have my two top choices of wheel for the e39. The improved ride is most likely due to the fact that they're 18's.

Damn those look good. Great upgrade. Hamann's looked good, but GT3's look better!

I just spent the day having the fenders re-rolled and still got some rub only on one side. Hell, I had less rub with my 19's and only on dips at high speeds usually.
I had the passenger fender flared out just a little and viola all better. To top it off, I've had a little dime size ding on the trunk lid for about a year and the same guy who flared my fender fixed it too. Cant even tell it had a ding. Some of these old school guys are unreal :drink1:

Your car looks very nice, but i liked the HM2's more. I never really saw the wheel in person untill i saw Rob's car when i hung out with him a little during a meet. I love the wheels now, and they looked beutiful on your car.
Still looking good however. Nice work and good job on a very clean car.

LOVE it! I like those rims a lot. I just put an M5 spoiler on mine too. I'll get some pics up soon. :buttrock
I noticed that I am rubbing on one side that I can tell. :( I went to a shop here in town and they said they can either finish rolling the fender lips in, which will flare the fender a bit, or they can trim it, similiar to how it's done on the M5. They just have to be careful not to cut past the weld point. Is it common for a place that does this kind of work not to take responsibility for any accidents that might happen? The guy said if the paint cracks when he's rolling it, tough, we can't cover it. I know this is custom work, but if they screw up, why should I have to pay? They are supposedly the best place in town for body work. However, they don't do much rolling. But this is where the dealer sent me...

Has anyone heard of it or actually tried one "REMUS Exhaust" on an E39??

Check my website. I have some vids of a quad setup and dual setup remus. The quad sounds amazing.

As I told you earlier, I was doing the 3.45 LSD. Well, after I went down with my check book to get it, the guy said it was now around $6,500 plus install. I had thought it would be around $2,500 plus labor, like he said a few days earlier. The reason it being so expensive is because you have to replace the shafts. The actual M5 3.45 LS has the same part number as the one for my 540, except its only $2,500. Were you aware of this? I can't see paying that much... :(

Holly cow! Is that the cost of a Dinan diff?
The M5 is a 3.15 Limited slip factory diff not 3.45 although the M5 guys wish it was:)
Yep, replacing the shafts even on a 3.15 is normal with Dinan or the M5 diff I believe, but that cost seems outrageous. Check Koalamotorsports (spelling) or Quaife for a better deal. With theirs you I don't think you need to replace the shafts basically just install it and go. Not sure about the impact on cruise control.

Yep, I forgot to mention those were Dinan diffs. I might go with a Quaife. I wonder why you don't have to put in a larger driveshaft with those? Also, sorry about changing the topic of your thread. But, I posted a thread a while back and didn't get much response about doing the Dinan HF manifold. I noticed you did it with yours and weren't sure early on that it helped your 0-60 times. Is that still the case? If so, how much do you think it slowed them? I was thinking about doing that, but I don't want to compromise 0-60 times, for faster 60+ that it gives you with more power up near redline. And can you notice that much difference 60+ even?

For about a year, I had the wrong darn engine software and tranny software installed. That's what killed my launching from 0-60. Amazingly, the car still ran pretty good. Topend was never an issue and with the intake Manifold the Topend was awesome. With the correct software in both depts the car launches harder then ever, but it gets tire spin and can be difficult to launch for an auto. If I had a lsd diff, I would say the times would be very close to 5.1-5.3 but tire spin kills me.
If your going to do the Intake Manifold get one from 9/1998 or earlier. I believe its the same one Dinan is using. The only difference is its ported and polished. If you go this route plan on using software from a vendor other than Dinan:)
Best bang for the buck though has got to be gearing, gearing, gearing :buttrock
Early on after CAI, Stage II engine software, Tranny software, exhaust and 3.15 diff, I would get 5.2-5.4 very consistantly, in 60 degree temps. Not bad for a fat auto. I would brake launch at about 500-800 rpms I think. Its been a while.

Thanks for the info! I wish the dang 3.45 wasn't so much. I could do a Quaife 3.46 for less, but I want to make sure I wouldn't need a bigger driveshaft.
Did you have your car Dyno'd when you were at Stage 4 (air meter) and after Stage 5? I wonder how much horsepower I would gain over the current Stage 4 I have now. I know I would lose some on the lowend.
I looked at a few vids on your site of your car. It looks hella fast! If you had a LSD, you would have a monster on your hands. :D

Car looks spectacular.
Query: Many folks on this forum talk about "rolling the fenders" what is that? Is it only necessary if you have a lowered car? I want to install 18" M-Par's on my 530i(e39) but I do not want to lower the car. Can I do this with my stock suspension? I've seen pics of other e39's with the M-Par's but I don't know if they had body work done to accomplish this.

"rolling the fenders" is essentially smashing the inner fender lip flat. it is sometimes necessary for some wheel/tire applications when lowered.
not sure about the offset on the Parallels.
