Well guys, my eaton M45 supercharger arrived this morning, i started straight away to get things rolling.

I rang an engineering firm to ask if they can make up a pulley for me. They said yes, so i was to hand in the old pulley for them to copy in larger version.

yes i did say larger. as it comes, if i was to leave that pulley on, i would probably be boosting at about 10 - 11psi, which on 10:1 CR is not good idea.

I will most likley have a 2.8" pulley made up to make boost around 8psi, which would be spot on.

Now the task of taking the old pulley of was not a fun one... 3 sets of various gear pullers, and my own welded contraption later, a very very bent pulley still in exactly the same bloody place it had been 5 hours previous

ARGH.

so, out came the hacksaw. Now i dont care what anyone says, i dont think there is anything a hacksaw can't do, i think i might marry one sometime...

Anyway, about an hour of sawing and then grinding the remainder of the thin bit on one side left, and i came off easy. slightly grinded the shaft, so thinking of 14krpm spontanious metal explosions because of an out of balance shaft I welded the score and filed it perfect flush with the rest of the shaft. cant notice it now so thats good.

so i will have to drop the whole SC off to the engineering company for them to work around it...

what i was thinking was getting the mini cooper S upgrade pulley kit, the one that comes with quick remove pulley shaft, that goes over the original, and then the pulley bolts onto with 4 bolts. would be a lot easier for removal in the future, although will add more money to the system...

On top of having a crappy day trying to get this thing done, i was comming back from gettnig a few bits when on right hand corners my car decided to make horrible grinding noises... engine mount rubbers are SCREWED, i can rock engine like a toy. gotta get it fixed asap. damn it!!! would do it myself but to be honest i cant be arsed...

Now heres some pics....

I will keep updating this topic as and when i gather all my bits for the project. i expect it to commence in the first few weeks of june.

Cheers for looking...

Damn. Go for it- I'm still frustrated with the lack of complete, illustrated documentation for the DASC install on my m44/318ic... It worked in the end, and runs great now-especially with Nick's software. I don't have your patience/skill/etc.

not meaning to be of offense but isn't the M45 a smaller S/C then the M62 that is used in the DASC kit? and if so why not use one that is larger then the DASC kit in order to acheive more power?

Frankie, contact NickG.. hes had very good results with supercharging these 4 cylinder cars as well. Shawn fogg was one happy participant-observer customer as a result. Search the pages here for the whole story.

will do... i did read about his software for the m44, although he has not done any for the m42 ?

if he had a chip that would retard ignition in the right points, i would buy it straight off...
