I'm hoping this is the best area for this. I've tried the Z3 forum with no luck. If there is a better forum/website to post, please let me know.

Okay, so at the shop I'm working at- we have an Autel scanner. I've been taking care of the small issues plaguing my 00' Z3M- and I'm now at the airbag light.

I went to reset what I had off the bat and got an error:

455312

The errors:
455313

ECU info:
455314

I see code 11 is for the battery pyro. I had a glance at it and backprobed the plug. 1.4v at the connector. It's obviously never been fired- from what I can tell.

My question is- the F0 code, am I looking at replacing the module?

Okay, the airbag computer in my car is part number 65778386192, which I have found was superseded by part number 65776908896. Anyone know why this is? Are these prone to failure?

More research done-

I'm assuming my module is toast. How? I do not know. Next question. Can I buy a used module (with no accidents), and plug and play it in my car, or am I looking at a reprogram (and if so, just a vin entry or a total reprogram?).

I have read of others experiencing problems with the SRS module, which is located under the centre console on the Z3 but have no idea if this was related to the part being superseded. The SRS module is designed to cash in its chips after 3 deployments so yes, they do also have a finite lifespan. If you don't already have it, this should help to eliminate other possible causes http://www.wedophones.com/Manuals/BMW/2000%20BMW%20Z3%20-%20M%20Roadster%20-%20Z3%20-%20M%20Coupe%20Electrical%20Troubleshooting%20Manu al.pdf

I do have that- printed and hole punched.

Seems as if I'm going to the dealer and pay the $170 for them to tell me it needs a new module. Drat.

Check BMW TIS first, just to ensure that there are no known issues with the power feed to the SRS module.

Any resolution to this issue? My Z3 has 4 SRS codes in it, (No accidents or deployments) One of the codes is 240- ECU internal error. INPA cannot reset the codes at all. I unplugged all seatbelt connectors and occupancy mat detector, cleaned contacts and reconnected. Still I can't reset any of the codes. Is the ECU bricked? I have the sam 192 unit as the OP.

Error 240 pretty much means you need a new module. Should be able to use a module from a wrecking yard.
