I have four of the T shaped idle control valves pulled from various 1987-1989 325i E30 BMWs. Clearing out my inventory of parts, $25 each. Includes shipping.
Hi everyone,
can someone please help me with my erratic high idle, i have a 1990 325i convertible European, tried everything AFM, TPS, ICV, checked my glove box but it seems i dont have an Idle Control Module (Idle Control Unit) Idle Speed control, (so many names for this damn thing) and no I am NOT talking about the ICV, the ICV i checked and is fine, only when i plug it out it nothing changes idling at around 2000rpm. In the glove box i found a black with white plug dangling, im trying to find out if that plug is for the missing ICM or not, any help to solve this idle issue highly appreciated, thanks in advance.

IIRC the newer ECU's have the ICM integrated and the default failure for an ICV is wide open. I use a small C clamp on the hose going in to the ICV and dial it down to almost closed which simulates a working ICV. Not only will that tell you for sure if thats your problem, but I actually run that way on my M10.
Needless to say intake leaks are at the top of the list for what you describe.
