Woohoo E34 Suspension question!! (Front Strut)

I am putting in some new front struts and strut mounts and I have a question for you. I know that sometime in the 1990 model the struts and mount switched from a 19mm nut to a 22mm nut. I need the 19mm nut versions. Here is where my question comes in.

Locally I can pick up new Bilstein struts for a great price but they are 22mm versions. If I order 22mm strut mounts from a later model car will those mount into my 19mm struts. IE are the 3 bolts ontop the same size? Would be nice to save the extra money

That would work. The body mount bolt pattern did not change. The important thing is matching the shaft diameter with the i.d. of the mount bearing. Good catch on the difference.

So I will need #6, #5 and #3 for sure. Will I need number #9 as well?

You don't need #9 on Bilsteins since they've got internal bump stops, but the other parts you will need for sure.

I think only the sports have an internal bump stop.
