What tire size to use for staggered M Parallels?

My uncle just bought a set of M Parallels in 18x8 and 18x9.5 size for his 98 740. What size tires should he run? He told me that somebody at the dealer told him that he should run 235/50 18 in front and 255/45 18 in back which both have a diameter of about 27.2 inches. His stock 16s had 235/55 16s on them which is a diameter of about 26.3 inches. If he runs 235/45 and 265/40, they'll be damn near 26.3 (stock), which I told him was a good thing.


Any input?

Sorry, my cousin apparently told me the wrong size of the original tires, they were 235/60 16 so the taller sizes were correct. You can ignore me. :help
