Lit the !#$@ out of a Z4 today.

Not being one to street race much anymore, just happened to pull up next to a new Z4 3.0 at stoplight well out in the burbs tonight. We had our windows down so I talked with him for a second, and he was curious to see how fast the ///M was. No traffic around, so we're only killing squirrels, so I figured what the hell. Light goes green, and he immediately loses a car. *Huge* bark going 1to2, and the Z4 is moving back into the distance fast. I let up midway through third around 75mph, as I could fully see him in my rear view mirror.
Nasty. Nice guy tho, gave me the thumbs up and kept driving.
I feel bad doing that to people with new cars. :(

I hope you have an E46 or mad mods, I have stomped 3 E36 M3's already.

1) Silver in Sep on 476(PA) with a passenger, we match speed at 60 and i take him 3 for 3 to 125ish (good dude, was laughing and beating his stearing wheel in a "Go faster!" type of way

2) MiddleEastern dude in an electric blue on on route 29 (Real jackass, was all pissed off and wouldn't even give me a wave)

3) White, tinted windows on 422, noone around , we started at around 80 I walked him solid from the start, and kept going to 130ish

I have no doubts about the Z4, 3.0 SMG vs the E36 M3 stock (ya'd get me on the launch unless I used launch control which blows)


EDIT: Sorry I just realized you did go from a light, I guess I can buy that.

regardless though with equal skill drivers i do believe the e36 M3 will take the z4, will be close, but not 100% sure. Z4 is lighter but then again, M3 = M3...

Drivers race at best, E36 M3 vs Z4 3.0.

Both run 0-60 in similar 5.3-5.4 times, and both run high 13's, low 14's in the 1/4 mile with similar 99-100 mph traps...

He didn't say it was a stick, guys...coulda been a 3.0 automatic, which would help explain the apparently large acceleration deficiency. :)

Oops sorry for the confusion, I originally posted this is the Z3 forums because everyone there knows I have an ///M roadster. The ///M is obviously faster than the E36 M3 so I'm assuming this is where the confusion stems from, sorry! :D
