Small wire to starter motor solenoid snapped.

I have a problem. I was in the process of removing my starter motor and the wire going to the starter motor solenoid secured with a 8mm bolt snapped and the metal end. This wire seems to be wired to the fuse box so is it best to cut a good wire from another car then cut and solder the new wire end?

Also what socket is used for the starter motor?

Car is a 525i M50B25TU.
