What changes in Sport Mode

I've been driving in sport mode a lot lately and really enjoy the transformation my car makes. There are obviously changes that occur in Sport Mode - better steering feel, enhanced shifting, enhanced acceleration. I've been trying to find a full description of what engaging Sport Mode does to the car,but can't find it. Can anyone help me learn more about this?
Also, for example, when in Sport Mode and shifting under hard acceleration, the exhaust makes a nice rumble sound through the shift that it never makes if not in Sport Mode. I like it, I just want to know why? What causes it?

Sport mode affects steering heft and throttle sensitivity. WOT for example, is the same in every mode. But partial throttle is amped up in each successive mode.
