My battery was dead this morning. Completely drained. Took a jump and was fine all day after 200 miles of d riving. parked it at 9 pm. I just went out to check it and see how it started. It started fine so I sat in it for a while to try figuring what might be wrong.
Eventually I head a "Hum/Buzz" coming from the center of the dash. I traced it to the little impeller/fan inside the climate control block that samples cabin air for the climate control system. I had to admit I couldn't remember if it should be on with the car shut off so I pulled the fuses; 20 and 27 and found 20 ran that impeller motor so I pulled it and closed the hood.
I have another control unit but I wanted to ask a two part question.
If you've run across this problem before is the fault in the control unit or the IHK unit and
secondly as this drained my battery so I needed to reenter the radio code and reset the OBC could it also have triggered a remote locking initialization fault blocking the remote locking system from initializing the key because that is also happening.
The two issues I know can cause this are doing the key initialization with a door open which I didn't do this time or supposedly unplugging the rear-view connector as the remote receiver there.. didn't do that either ..
The only other oddity recently concerning locks was Wednesday the trunk somehow got set to the valet setting so it could not be opened with the the button after unlocking the doors. I do it manually and as an a side the key will not budge the trunk lock at all anyway.. I eventually got the trunk button to allow me to open the trunk but after that it would no longer lock when locking the doors. Tonight I worked on the trunk lock mechanism and got the plates around where they allowed the actuator to again lock the trunk when the doors are locked ( manually with the key as since this morning the remote hasn't worked.)
