Spacer problems?

I've got a 2009 e90 335i M sport. I was telling my SA (also a buddy) that I was considering adding some wheel spacers. He strongly advised against it claiming it might affect some of the sophisticated systems connected to the wheels. I haven't read anything negative about them on here. Have you guys had any problems with them or do you know of any? This is my 4th BMW and I've never modded any of them. I usually err on the side of caution but I really want to mod this one some.

Sorry I say that's tosh! Unless you were talking about adding massively thick spacers (say in excess of 30mm) they won't cause any problems to the '...sophisticated systems' (whatever they might be). I've used spacers for years with no issues.
