STEP driving record question

I am currently in school at a NATEF certified school. I meet all the requirements for STEP except one. a little over 2 years ago i had a ticket for careless driving. In New Jersey this is a lower offense then Reckless Driving.

With this ticket would I be denied acceptance to STEP? I have had a clean driving record since then, and the offense when i apply for STEP would be about 2 and a half years ago.

Iffy. I had a speeding ticket on my record that they didn't seem to mind, and I had a reckless driving ticket on my record that happened just over 3 years prior to applying for STEP. I was able to pull my 3-year record at the DMV when I applied, and it never ended up being an issue. The fact that you're applying 2.5 years after getting the ticket means it'll show up on your record, so it could be an issue. I know points systems are different in every state, but how many points was the ticket?
