Please be advised that members need 100 posts before the Avatar option becomes available in your "User CP" ( Control Panel). Although the avatar image resolution limit is still 116 X 116 pixels, the file size limit is now 8k max, and if you could optimize your avatars even further, it would be extremely helpful for overall site speed. With proper optimization... a 30k avatar can easily become an 8k avatar without any noticeable loss of quality to the human eye. The enforced signature size limit is a maximum of approximately 600 pixels wide X 240 pixels high in total area. Generally, this limitation is the TOTAL size for ALL text and images in a multi-image signature. In addition to the maximum image, you are allowed two lines of text. Anything over 2 lines of text requires that you subtract 15 pixels per each line of text. Also please consider using the smaller font for any text within your signatures. Finally, please be advised that since your Avatars and Signatures are displayed throughout Bimmerforums, they should not contain offensive or distasteful language or more than PG images.

Signatures, Avatars and Profile Pictures

What are signatures?
'Signatures' contain information that you want to include at the bottom of all your posts. This might include pictures, links to your site(s), quotes, etc.
What are avatars?
Avatars are small images that people use to identify or distinguish themselves to other forum members. In some cases the administrator will not allow avatars or only allow them for specific members. The administrator can also provide some stock avatars people can use, or they can allow members to upload their own custom avatars from their own computers. These avatars will be displayed as part of the user info in posts, as well as in the public profile.
What are profile pictures?
Profile Pictures are photos members can upload that will display in their public member profile. This option may or may not be enabled by the administrator.
How do I set signatures, avatars and profile pictures?
You can set and change your signature, avatar and profile picture in the User Control Panel (providing the administrator has made these options available).
For signatures, click on 'Edit Signature (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/profile.php?do=editsignature)' under the 'Settings and Options' area of the navigation bar within the User CP.
To select an existing or upload a new avatar, click on 'Edit Avatar (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/profile.php?do=editavatar)'.
To upload a profile picture, click on 'Edit Profile Picture (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/profile.php?do=editprofilepic)' in the 'Your Profile' section.

:) One you have enough posts you'll be able to post pictures and set up an avatar. A lot of people on the forums use Photobucket.com to host their photos and then just copy the IMG link onto the posts. But again, we won't be able to see it until you've passed the restricted phase.
