dinan carbon fiber intake

I was wondering if anyone bought the dinan carbon fiber intake for their bmw. Does it really make a difference? Is it worth the cost? Is it an upgrade over the stock intake? Only reason i would get it is i have the dinan stage 1 tune and the dinan free flow exhaust. Thanks in advance for thoughts/ input.

Carbon fiber is just for looks. An upgraded intake will help but spending more for carbon fiber is foolish.

If you can find it for cheap it wouldn't be a bad thing to complete the collection. Most of the time Intake/exhaust/chip go together best as a complete set.

The intake brings in more air, the chip tells the engine to use more air, the exhaust gets rid of the air faster.

I don't necessarily agree that CF is just for looks, something of that material would improve airflow (pending on twill and a factor of other things), but mainly CF works great for reducing weight of non-essentially heavy items such as your hood, trunk, doors etc... CF is also able to be compressed under a large amount of force, however, when it comes to tensile force CF can be very brittle. The image I attached shows how much strength and modulus in giga pascals CF is able to with hold.

Best buy is Afe 2 stage CAI. Less that 300$ on Amazon. It added 14 HP, measured on the dyno.

I actually can't buy it here in Cali. I do have the dinan S2 software and free flow thought about the CAI but its pretty pricey for what it is and I can't get it anyway. Might go for the intercooler but that will be next year. Car only gets one anniversary gift a year lol.

with what other mods tho? and what car / engine? a CAI will not give you 14hp on a stock set up
