No, full time. There is no such thing as a part time tech. At least not here.

I work at this dealership. We have recently hired about 4-5 techs, and I'm not sure if we're planning on hiring any more or not. But if you have a lot of BMW experience, like transferring from a BMW independant shop, or another BMW dealer, there's a good chance you could get hired. All the recent tech's we hired don't have much BMW experience, and are having to be trained.

Sound like the local BMW dealer here.

Haha, yeah, like always at that place. Except for Taylor (cause he's the golden child, and gets to cherry-pick his tickets to work on), they runoff their best technicians! Dwayne, Tony, you, me, Chad, etc. That place is a joke. I'm glad to be out of there.

Depends on your experience and BMW training level. Could be anywhere from 17-30 an hour.

They top out at $30? Thats pretty low. I guess I am just in a different market here in Chicago. We top out at $42 + $400 bonus checks every month for 60 hrs averages for 4 weeks.

I don't think it's capped at $30, but I would say there might be only one or two guys making $30 or more. But yes, markets vary greatly. When I worked in Montgomery, AL, the highest paid guy was at about $22-23 an hour.

it all depends on location, dealer, and manager.

I made more at a very small dealer (Townsend BMW) in Tuscaloosa AL than I did a BMW of Montgomery. I make the same I did at BMW of MONT now at my current MB dealer. Have only been there 18 mths now. I could have made more in Pcola FL. I was offered closer to 30.

Wish this was closer. Just applied at my local BMW dealership today and applying at the other one in town tomorrow.

It has been really hard to find techs lately. I don't think that anyone wanted to go to tech school in 08 and 09 because they were worried that there wouldn't be any jobs. Now there seems to be a shortage. We are looking for a Mini tech in Utah if you hear of any. If we are contacted by any BMW guys I will send them your way. Do you hire STEP grads straight out of the program?

in my opinion its not that hard to find techs...its hard to find good techs. That being said...in any dealer ive been in/around the pay still isnt as high as it should be.
