Model: 2007 328i
Two days before I had the starter replaced and oil filter housing gasket. Today I noticed that a bolt seems to be missing at the top of the engine towards right-front. I am not sure originally there was no bolt or its a important bolt and forgot to put it back. I have attached couple of pics.
Anyway I plan to contact the service center but could anyone please tell me that this is an issue or not.
Thanks much guys!!!!

By the size of the thread, I think it if for inserting the tow hook to lift the motor in/out of the car.

I just checked the engine in my 07 Z4 3.0si (N52 engine). It's exactly as your picture shows, with the large threaded socket without anything screwed into the socket.. I agree with the above poster that its most likely an engine removal lug location that is normally "open".
So, no worries.
