Going to replace my transmission on my 2000 528i. Manual suggests the use of an Engine Support Bracket #00 0 200 00 0 208.
Probably not going that route. I'm thinking either a 2x4 with all thread from above or blocking up the engine from underneath.
Any suggestions or diagrams would be appreciated. If supported from above, where do I attach to?

The engine support brackets are normally used by shops because you can raise and lower a vehical on a lift with the engine supported. If your doing this in a garage with the car on jackstands, a jack and a block of wood on the oil pan will do just fine. I like to use a 2x10 or 2x12 to increase surface area as much as possible.

Got it! Now that makes sense...didn't think of that!
Thanks benjammin!

Not sure of oil pan location on your engine keep in mind how its biased to the engine mounts. If it forward biased you might need a well placed jack stand maybe a block of wood or small bottle jack to support the weight of the rear of the engine.
