I have seen other postings stating that the Dunlop Direzza tires run wider than others. I'm getting ready to replace the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 tires (due to age rather than wear) on my 2000 M Roadster and was considering the Direzza Z2. I currently have 8 mm clearance between the Goodyear 225/45-17 (mounted on stock 7.5" et 41 rims) and the strut tube as a result of running Bimmerworld camber shims.
Would the same size 225/45-17 Direzza Z2 leave me with less strut clearance than the 225/45-17 Goodyear F1 GS-D3?
Furthermore, I would love to run 235/40-17 up front on stock 7.5" rims (i.e. 95' M3) and assume this would eat up another 5 mm of clearance and might necessitate a wheel spacer. What's the recommended minimum amount of tire to strut tube clearance?
Thanks in advance,
