Bad News: Having a problem with the tailgate and fuel door and here's the story:
Right after I purchased this new to me 2003 e39 525iT, the tailgate opened and closed without any problems but remote functions on my key would not work. After searching the forum I came across a procedure for reprogramming the key so tried that without success. The next time I tried to open the tailgate.....problem...it won't open unless I use the release cable. Lock tries to disengage but just cycles. So I've looked up everything I could find on the forum and have checked the following:
Central Door Lock Fuses - all good
Fuel door lock actuator - doesn't work either but with it disconnected the tailgate still won't open
Rear hatch window - also won't open
Has anyone out there experienced this set of symptoms and if so how did you resolve it?:help
Good News: Replaced the original steering wheel with M-style sport wheel and removed the MID/radio to send off for pixel repair.
