I've got an 07 335i with 71K miles on it and my wastegates rattle horribly! I'm hoping that this will cover the repairs. Please tell me if you were successful in having BMW replace your turbos and your year and miles. Thanks!

I don't believe it's covered for cars with mods that alter hardware/software. Any such evidence would have to be completely removed.

I'm taking my '08 in today in a few hours. we'll see how it goes! Also, what mystreba said - you'll need to revert your car back to stock status.

@ sleepysvt98, you may want to check with your dealer. The other day my service engineer informed me that BMW has increased the warranty of turbos and a few other components from 4 to 8 years. He informed me this when I was inquiring about him about the extended warranty. I drive a 2008 335xi.

Depends on the dealer. Some may be dicks and say that the mods caused the rattle. Others may admit that it is a defective design and mods had no affect on them eventually failing.

Lots of people have had the turbos replaced for rattling wastegates. For awhile, we were doing 1 or 2 per month.

My car will defintely be reverted back to stock, let's just hope it is for good reason.

That sounds like good news!

Well, if you want to get yours replaced, make sure you're throwing codes. My issue appears to be vacuum leak. That's being repaired and we'll see if it's still broken when I get it back on Monday.

"(Factory installed only) All Internally lubricated Parts contained within Housing, plus: Housing if damaged as the result of the failure of an internal part." this is what I found on one of the warranty websites - http://endurancedirect.com/coverage.php (http://endurancedirect.com/coverage.php). I guess it depends on what company you bought your extended warranty from. BMW dealers don't sell their own extended warranty. It could have been Endurance, Century, Interstate, or other.

Keep us updated.

I replaced my turbos on 08 335xi when I got the car due to ripped coupling causing over boosting on turbos. The previous owner was in accident and never fixed the rip.
If warranty doesn't cover it's not a hard job replacing them yourself if need be. I don't think you can replace waste gate parts individually.

BMW did nothing for me yesterday, they said it was the wastgate actuators and quoted me $3400 to fix. Since the acutal wastgate itself was still oprational, no repairs were made. Ugh.

That's a tad difficult to swallow. They should just replace them (turbos) if BMW is paying for it. They're not just going to "fix the wastegates". LOL

Did you try the wastegate rattle fix through the JB4 settings? Just a thought.

We can't "just replace" turbochargers at BMW's expense as technicians. Turbo chargers are on a list of parts that we have to receive special authorization to replace under warranty. The problem with most of the waste gate noise is repairable with a fine tuned adjustment. There are cases where the tolerance can't be adjusted, but BMW isn't going to just authorize us to replace two thousand dollar turbos without having even attempted a waste gate adjustment.

I'm curious what you think the issue is with the waste gates on most cars that we can't fix the waste gate noise. There are certain circumstances where I have found the linkage at the waste gate to be worn to the point that it had too much side to side play, and not just front to back, but that isn't the norm and we absolutely can fix most of the noise with a waste gate adjustment.

I am having my turbos replaced by the dealer at no cost under the extended warranty. I have an 07 335i and 72K. I brought it into the dealer with catless DP's, DCI, charge pipe and BOV. They gave me absolutely no issues with those aftermarket parts and made no comments whatsoever.
