been looking into a new clutch, since i put quite a few miles on the current one, abusing it while learning how to drive stick, etc. i set my car up so that i can start doing some recreational autoxing. final step before i can do this is to get a new clutch, as im sure my throw out bearing is starting to go out. plus, i need to do my rear main seal anyways, so why not while im down there. anyways, i dont want to spend more than $300 and this f1 racing stage 1 is right there and looks fancy, but any no-shit reviews on it by people who have put miles on it on there e39 540i.
id prefer not to hear side stories about any of your previous civics, etc that you had a bad experience with, but i will appreciate honest input from the suggested audience.
a few things to keep in mind, i have a few mods that may or may not affect this decision. i have a dinan CAI, cdv delete, high flow exhaust, and 3.15 lsd. also, i plan on having a port and polish done in the near future to add a little more umph.
thank you all in advance for all positive input.

SEARCH! I did quite a lot of searching before I pulled the trigger on mine and found a lot of FI guys run their stage 3 clutch and seem to like it. I called them directly and offered them a lower price and they took it too :)

yeah, but ive read that having a stage 3, you need to change the flywheel out. trust me, ive had enough posts where ive been told to search, and ive been looking for weeks. i havent read anything on our cars on these.

The stage 3 is kit: meaning it comes with a new flywheel, pressure plate and clutch. It's sitting in my garage right now.

nah man. the stag3 is just a 6 puck clutch, meaning your gonna get a stiff ass clutch pedal.

ive looked and was wanting the one trini pulled up, which does not come with a flywheel. it comes with the pressure plate though. but so does their stage 1. i wouldnt mind getting the stage 3, but like i said, most forums that i read mentioned needing a lighter flywheel for it to avoid slippage. and my clutch is already pretty stiff as is, so i wouldnt mind. as long as it doesnt slip.

just researched and they make that setup with flywheel included for all the i6 model bimmers, just not our V8s.

I have an F1 stage 4 in my car with the billet steel flywheel. No issues minus you should buy an OEM throw out bearing, the one they supply is crap.
Clutch feels almost stock to be honest. Has no problem holding over 550hp. Also its not the disc what gives the harder pedal feel, its the pressure plate.

Wait, so you cannot use an oem flywheel with this clutch set up? I was looking into this when my clutch goes..... (hopefully not anytime soon thou) *knocking on wood*

yeah, but your setup is going to be largely different than the v8. and like i said, i need to keep the OEM flywheel. so im looking into the stage 1 they have, but would like to get the stage 3 if i dont have to change out my flywheel.

thats why im asking on here for anyone with real world experience on their stage 3 with OEM FW, otherwise ill end up going with their stage 1 i guess. and my clutch isnt bad yet, but like i said, my throwout bearing sounds like its going bad, and im going to teach my wife to drive stick as well, so two new learners on it will have taken its toll on my current one. and might as well upgrade my clutch since ill be down there anyways

ok, so for anyone reading, im going to jump the gun on this and get the stage 3. i spoke with the a tech today and told me it will work fine with the dual mass flywheel and assured me that their warranty will cover any defects, such as slipping, as long as i properly break her in for 500 miles. so im going to order it and see how we go. hopefully clutch will be in by the weekend after this.
