Hey guys, this is my first post and as a relatively new Bimmer owner, I really appreciate the input. Now, here is my issue: I have a 2006 330i auto and sometimes when I accelerate hard, be it from a stop or when I'm already moving, the engine shutters a little bit and my service engine soon light comes on. It seems like a misfire but when I come to a stop and restart the car, no warning lights come on at all. It doesn't happen a lot, and seems to occur more frequently when I'm in D as opposed to DS or M mode. Any help, input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Mileage? How old are your current spark plugs?

It has about 117k miles. The age of the spark plugs frankly I'm not too sure. When I check the instrument panel for scheduled maintenance I don't get a warning light or anything like I would I the oil or coolant were too low or anything like that. I've done a lot of maintenance on the car, but no spark plugs. Also, it only seems to happen between 3-4k rpm, regardless of which gear I'm in.

At 124,000 my Indy told me it was time for spark plugs. I wasn't having anything like misfires, just maintenance work done but it might be worth a try.

What am I looking at in terms of cost for the plugs? And is it a reasonable DIY job?

If I remember correctly, having all my plugs replaced was $76. That's just for parts. They were replaced on my car along with other things for 100,000 mile servicing (a little late) so I'm not sure how long it would take a shop to do it vs DIY. I Would assume not too long.

Don't forget to buy the right socket before you attempt this as a DIY. 'Cause BMWs are special and therefore need a special socket. :)

I think taking it to my local Indy will probably be the best bet for me

Only 335s need a special socket. N51/2 engines uses a regular spark plug socket. I bought parts number correct Bosch spark plugs at Autozone for $36 and did it myself.
