Hi,

I recently put drilled rotors and hawk pads on all 4 corners, never introduced air to the brake lines. After I installed the new parts the brakes are squishy unless i pump them once or twice. They were rock solid and tight prior to the new parts install. I figured I had air in the lines and went ahead and bought a Motive pressure bleeder. After flushing with new fluid with the pressure bleeder I have the same result, brakes work fine but have travel before they engage and feel squishy unless I pump them once or twice. Thoughts on this? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

It may be the pads have simply not "beded" or worn down enough to be very flat with the rotors yet, and the surfaces are not yet mature enough. Can anyone confirm this?

Are they cermaic pads? If they are they will always feel softer than OEM. Softer meaning having less bite

hardware alignment Rotors true, and square to the hub pads true and square to the rotor face calipers square to the rotor. no stick or bind in the caliper and pad slides Wheels and bearings tight.A slight problem with any of the above will cause people to pump gallons of fluid through the system with no effect.

WHY DOES THIS $%@#^Y@$ THING KEEP EATING MY FORMATTING???

Zimmerman drilled with Hawk XPS pads. I did follow the "correct" bed processes.

I have done many brake jobs with excellent results. How do you check your suggestions? I had no issues installing the rotors, pads or calipers.

I have the Hawk HPS pads and they also feel a bit squishy especially when it's wet. I guess it's normal?

On my 2003 540, I changed to Akebono brake pads, also without allowing any air into the system. After install (simple pads R&R), the brakes worked fine, but if I held my foot on the brake pedal, it would slowly sink to the floor. Even though no brake lines were opened, I went ahead & bled all 4 brake lines, but that didn't change anything.
Ended up having my indy look at the problem & they used their software to open up the ABS system to allow the brake fluid to be completely bled. They said during the bleeding process, they noticed a good amount of very dark brake fluid coming out. That solved the problem. Brakes feel great now.
I'm not saying this is what your problem is, but I wanted to pass the info along.

All you can do is make sure every mounting point is clean and tight. Beyond that requires some serious measureing equiipment. But from other's posts, it is sounding like this brand of pad is just soft.
