I am pushing 60,000 miles on my 2009 328 drive. I got in my last "maintenance free" service at the BMW dealership. The last time I was there the guy told me that my rear brake pads and my tires will need service soon. At the time, the guy gave me an "estimate" of what the costs would be for this service outside of the warranty. He estimated 4 new run flat tires at $300.00 each and $600 to do the rear brake pads. This is the first BMW I have ever owned so not savy on what things like this cost.
I'm not married to the run flats although I don't dislike them. Should I try a local shop? I have a guy that I trust but he isn't an "authorized" BMW repair shop but a maintenance shop and he does work on foreign cars. $2,000.00 seems pricey to do it at BMW but I'm guessing they warranty the work unlike a local shop.
Anyway, can someone tell me what I should pay for new rear brake pads and tires? I'm in Northern/Central NJ if that makes a difference.

My 2006 325xi Sportwagon got new rear brakes at 40k and fronts by 50k miles. The run flats lasted 10k miles. Now running Michelin Pilot Exalto tires, not rft.
You can see what rotors, brake pads, and wear sensors cost by going to eeuroparts.com. Then you can guage how much you are paying for labor for your brake job. Also check out Tirerack.com for tires. I would seriously consider a non rft for your car. Then get a comfort kit from Tirerack to handle a flat tire in the unlikely event that you ever get a flat tire.

A total brake job on my 06 325i was a little North of $500.00 and runflats at Discount Tire were about $900.00. I would never buy tires at a dealer. The shop that did the brakes was a shop that specializes in BMW's but wasn't a dealer.

I did a whole all around brake/tire job on my E90 (pads, rotors, sensors, 4 tires) for $963. Didn't take it to a shop that specializes on Bimmers because I know the shop personally and most places can do brakes.
4 Goodyear Eagle GT all seasons no RFT's-
Tire Rack-$541
4 rotors-$145
2 sensors-$40
4 pads-$117
The rest was labor.

Hi Obey...
We have an '08 328i E92 that hit 90,000 miles 4 days ago. Only normal maintenance to this point. Ditched the RTF's after they didn't RunFlat. We now have B.F.Goodrich Sport Comp 2's on it. Like them much better. What do we do without RTF's? Slime, compressor, and prayer! It's 90 miles to church each Sunday. Lots of prayer!!
I'm an IT guy so I am not mechanically inclined. One time watched our son work on his '04 Goat. I asked him, "What is that?" He said "Dad, that's the engine." Used to think a Breaker Bar was a pub near the beach. But I changed my own rear brakes after reading the DIY's. First side took 2.5 hours. Second side took 30 minutes, and that included the wear sensor. Paid $188 for Pads and disks. Next up. The serpentine belt and tensioner.
Just do what I do. Tell yourself, "I'm good enough. I'm smart enough. And dog-gone-it, people like me!" Be brave, you can do it.

You don't say what sizes of tires you have (sport package, square or staggared), so it's kind of hard to be accurate. Go to tirerack.com and plug your car in. A set of 4 RFT (Michelin PS2 ZP or Bridgestone RE050A) for a sport package staggared set costs around $1500 or so. Costco is IMO a good choice - their prices are usually right with tirerack.
Rear brake pads probably can be had for under $100 - the installation at any shop is only an hour ($90-$150/hour). If you need rotors, that's more costly.
