hey guys I just installed my new M3 bumper a few days ago. I want to do the painting of the hood and bumper myself, I already found my paint color code and just want to know about how many gallons do you think will do the job? Just want to see how much it would cost for the amount of paint. Thanks, and heres a pic:

Less than a gallon for sure!....your mix ratio is usually 50/50 or something similar...ask your paint supplier what they think...they are usually helpful...If there are any plastic or rubber parts, you must use a flex agent in the paint or it will crack and could even come off in chunks. Flex agent mixes right into the primer and paint at maybe 10:1 ration or something similar.

Preparation is the biggest key to a good paint job...that and a secure place to paint it....no wind, no dust, and please wear protective clothing and a good quality mask!

PS having the two panels painted might not be as bad as you think at a friendly body shop...especially if you do most of the prep work yourself....

I used two quarts of color to paint my entire E28, and I have some left over to color match the style 19s and paint the deck spoiler I picked up.

I would get a pint for just the bumper along with reducer, clear & activator.

If you don't have the right equipment you don't want to tackle this. 2 quarts of base and a gallon of clear will do your entire car with at least 2 coats and leave a small amount left over.

Thanks guys! I was just wondering how much it would take. I know I'm not a professional painter so Im not gonna mess with painting my car. I'm just gonna find a shop that gives me a fair quote for all these areas and get it done properly. My kit is here and the swap is underway!
