I am currently running some Hankook Ventus Z214 with a 245/45/17... but I am starting to see thread on one tires... so it is time to bid them farewell.

I was going to just buy the same brand since they were cost effective and performed well. However, a guy at the track who somehow pulled off the 3rd best lap time of the day (I had the 6th of 39 :alright) in a Mustang GT said he was running with some tires he bought new for $80 each. I didn't get the name of the brand, but it got me thinking that there has to be a more cost effective option out there...

Does anyone have a suggestion? :help

Most auto-x'ers are in my area run Star Spec's or Hankook RS-3's. RS-3's are cheaper, but not as good for DD.

Those are last year's tahrs. :-)

The new Dunlop Star Spec ZII and the new BF Goodrich somethingorother Rival are the must-have street tires for autoX this season, by all early indications.

The updated Falken RT-615K is also highly rated.

I love my RS-3's as a DD tire.
