Golf tee mod is not accomplished from inside the trunk! You did the "unplug mod". Basically does the same thing, but without an actual golf tee.

Does it work different with using the golf tee rather than unplugging ? Unplugging seems the easiest …

Unplugging is definitely easiest. There's debate about which is the better method. Consensus is that neither throws a code, so I suppose it doesn't matter.
