Hi Guys,
I am new to the forum. Just picked up a 2008 328XI sport.
I was looking to put some 19inch rims on the car for summer. I was looking at 255/40/19s for the front and 285/35/19 for the rear. Would a 19x8.5 and 19x9 wheel be able to handle these tires sizes? would there be rubbing with 255s up front?
Any suggestions are welcome. I don't want a supper bumpy ride so would 18s be a better choice?
thanks.

Do some research on staggered tires and AWD... Then decide if you still want to do it.

I assume staggered would be okay as my stock bmw came with staggered tires and rims.
stocks are:
front: 225/45/17 on 17x8 rim
rear: 255/40/17 on 17x8.5 rim
The rolling diameter is almost the same.
I read that there is no real problem with staggered(i read bmw, lexus and audi forums).I wanted to know the feel of 19s on the car during summer. has anyone had any problems? are 18s a better compromise between looks and comfort??
I could only find reviews of people just putting them on and liking them or hating them but no long term reviews.
HFX328i any thoughts?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Damn, i have to do more research. I always thought different sized tires on an AWD drive train is bad news..
If i had an e9x i would get 18's. 19 is just to much wheel in my opinion, 18 is just perfect.
275 on a 9.5 as to much overhang. so 285 on a 9 would look really bad i think. These are the specs i would run:
245/45/18 x8.5
255/40/18 x9
How tight is it in the wheel well? Offset comes into play here, because you do not want to rub. And you want to be able to clear the hub/calliper. What wheels are you planning on running with?
Edit: here is 275 on a 9.5...

Here is what Tire Rack recommends in a 19" staggered for your car..

I was looking at VMR 710s 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 running 235/40/18 and 265/35/18.
I also thought running staggered on awd was bad but as long as the rolling diameter is within 5% you are good.(this is what my research has found. correct me if i'm wrong)
yes it looks like 275 on 9.5 is too much over hand. Right now my tires are flush with the rim and thats what i like. im hoping 265 would be a bit better.
right now my 255 on a 8.5 seems flush. i think 265 on a 9.5 should be okay right? ill see if i can find some more pics of 265 on 9.5.
