I want to check out stored infomation in the DME and CAS etc. using:

INPA
Tool32
NCSEXPER
DIS
Progman

Is it possible with a charger connected to the engine compartment's jumper nodes, and the engine OFF? For example, if I were to insert the car 'key' and press 'start' without pressing the brake pedal, and 'turn the system ON'(?), would the DME/CAS be accessible in any of the software?

I don't really need to access realtime engine operation at the moment, for I just want to take time getting familiar with these diagnostic/coding software, and not worry about gas consumption or carbon monoxide knocking me out in the 5th floor underground parking lot. :embarrasm

Yes, you can read info with engine off. I fact it's recommended to always read the faultcodes with only power on and engine off.

You can read the faultcodes with INPA and DIS. INPA is about 50 times faster tough. :)

Thuppu, thanks for the confirmation! :D

DavidMC just sent me a line that he recalls TIS mentioning a way to keep the ignition signal alive(car system ON yet engine OFF). I'll have to dig that up!

Thank you all! :redspot

Key in ignition, position 2, all modules come online when ignition 2 is active, without engine running.
