Car goes to sleep in about 15 seconds(as it should), all interior lights go out etc.

but

If you pull the neg side of the battery something is using 10 volts of draw.
also
When you put the neg side back onto the battery it is a big spark!
(lot of draw)
We removed the power supply to the fueses under the hood and there is no spark there so whatever it is appears to being drawn from the fuses at the passenger footwell.

I assume all the computers to the car plug in at this footwell fuse box, i was not able to unplug the 5 or so of those.

I removed each fuse one at a time and watched the draw and nothing changed. All fuses are good.

We also removed the power supply going to the alternator and its not that.

Only codes are from a tpms issue and i wouldnt think thats it.

10 volts, or 10 amps?

You do know there IS always a constant draw on the battery, due to the electronics, keeping them powered up at a lower level, even when the ignition is "off".

That's normal. And, it doesn't take much of a power demand to create a "big spark" when you reconnect the battery.

By power drain, can we assume you mean the battery hasn't been holding a charge for any length of time?

Is this the OEM battery, or a replacement? How old is it if its not the OEM battery?

You really haven't supplied enough information to help diagnose what's going on here...

its only drawing .44 with the meter set at 20amp...not sure if this is what it should be drawing or not? Maybe it is my battery? Pulled every fuse inside and under hood...didnt really find any fuse that made much of a difference???? Soemtimes i would pull a fuse and it would go down a litte and then other times when i put them back in it went up. Its a BMW mini battery installed new in 2009,

I suggest you take your battery to a reputable shop and have it load tested. That'll tell you if your battery is at fault. 3-4 years on a Mini OEM battery is all that some end up getting.

Less than a 1/2 amp draw when in a non-active state seems reasonable.

take a regular test light put it in series with one side of your battery, disconnect one side
( neg ) and connect one end of the test lamp to the battery and the other to the (neg) battery cable ,with the ignition off ,if the test lamp lights you have a short

The car maintains power to the electronics even when the ignition is off, so I doubt your suggested test will discern anything meaningful, since there's always SOME current flow in the electrical system, switched on OR off...

I'm not sure I understand the problem here. There's always a draw on MINIs. Do you have to jump the car regularly?

The mini r56 vehicle electronics can stay awake up to 45 mins to a hour before vehicle is fully asleep.
