Ok so firstly I just wanted to say thanks for all the great information posted on these forums. I almost got a comparable Mercedes before reading these posts, now I'm extremely glad I didn't!
So I ordered my 2013 328i last week, it's on a boat and I'll have it within 3 weeks (gonna really suck waiting that long).
However I'm kind of battling myself on a few things.
Firstly I got the Sport Package instead of the M-Sport Package. The M-Sport package looks quite a bit better. Do you think its worth canceling my order to get it? What are some opinions on the differences?
Secondly I got a manual transmission, but now I'm thinking automatic! Any opinions? (Gas Mileage Implications, Power Implications??)
Lastly I got it for $4k under MSRP, did I get a good deal? (I think it is just about right at invoice.
I would really appreciate any feedback, thanks!
Specs:
Jet Black
Leather Dakota Black/Red
Premium Package
Sport Line (18" Wheels, Sport Seats, High-Gloss Black Trim)
Technology Package
Without Lines Designation (No clue what that means??)
Heated Front Seats
So I have been reading on the forums quite a bit more and see some people have gotten their cars for as much as $5k+ under MSRP! I went with a car buying service called AuthorityAuto located in So Cal, and they couldn't even get me that much under MSRP!
Is it rare to get 5k under? Maybe it's because I'm leasing?

Congrats! On the subject of price; $4K under MSRP is a steal. Anyone who got more off likely got a 2012 late in the year when the 2013s were sitting next to them.
I have a Sportline too, as the M Sport wasn't available when I purchased my car almost a year ago. Unless you purchased staggered tires, you just saved some money. The square set on the Sportline are thinner, can take a beating, and last longer. They are also cheaper to replace.
I have a lease also, but with how I drive, will likely need a new set before returning the car.
You got a great deal on an awesome car. You can move to the M in 3 years, just as I likel will, but I love my Sportline.

Get the M Sport! Totally worth it. Makes the car feel even more special. Regardless you'll love it.

if your car is already on a boat, what are the ramifications of canceling the order?

I would just say be cautious in openly accepting the posts you see regarding who got what pricing on which make/model car.
The important thing is the you're satisfied with the pricing you received.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm so torn now, this is not fun!
Part of me wants to just commit to the car since, thanks to you guys, I know I'm getting a great deal! However part of me thinks that if I'm going to spend a substantial amount of money each month I should get exactly what I want.
I just talked to Authority Auto and basically my rep said the car is already ordered and there is also not a M-Sport available with the specifications I want. I'm sure I could wait for one though.
As far as canceling the order it would result in him likely not being willing to do business with me, which means I would lose my $250 retainer and possibly not being able to find as good of a deal as he found me.
This car has EVERYTHING I want minus the back up camera and M-Sport package, I don't know what to do....

I have almost the same car, same colour and trim. Couldn't be happier!
Only had it for a week and couldn't make a complaint if I tried.
Ok so the BMW Apps not working on iPhone5 kinda sucks - but who cares?

Yea I'm sure I'll be happy, I asked him if there was ANY chance of getting a M-Sport, if he says no then my decision is made for me!
I know I'll be happy either way, just a big investment for me so I wanted to be certain I was getting what I wanted. At the end of the day the body styling is not that different.
And again thanks for all the input/info!

Yes, no, decent.
I ordered a Sport Line only to have it mistakenly built without Bluetooth and USB. So I reordered the car with M Sport, as it was just being offered in the US.
From what I've seen in videos, the AT shifts quickly, but I've owned manual transmission cars for 30 years and too old school to switch.
My two cents.

M Sport is simply a cosmetically modified Sport Line. The major differences are aerodynamics on the front bumper, side skirts and rear bumper and diffuser. The wheels are obviously different, and instead of a squared 225/40-18 setup with the Sport, you go to staggered 225/45-18 front, 255/40-18 rear setup with the M Sport wheels. Additionally, you get a different steering wheel design.
The suspension for the M Sport is labeled as M Sport suspension, but it's the exact same suspension as the Sport Line.
In terms of paint color, Estoril Blue II is the only M Sport exclusive color available.
One thing to keep in mind is that the Sport Line does have fog lamps, but the M Sport does not. If you want fogs, you have to get the Sport.
Without Lines Designation means that you will not have a little Sport badge on the front fenders of the car. They do this as an option. I would only have that badge on there for the Luxury Line. Everything else, and it's basically worthless IMO.

In terms of the transmission, that's on you. If you like manual, you'll be good with it. I opted for the Sport Automatic with Paddle Shifters. I love paddle shifters, and I used to own and track an E46 M3 SMG, so I'm used to them. The fuel economy of the automatic is good, and at higher speeds it's got the potential to be better. The 8th gear makes it very efficient at Interstate cruising speeds around ~65-75mph. People are posting 40+ MPG with it at those speeds. For around town driving, you can still get better fuel econ from a manual if you know what you're doing.
$4k under MSRP is great. It's likely below invoice at that point. The nice thing is that right now there are lots of incentives. If you can cash in on the incentives, you're going to benefit financially.

I got my car two months ago. I'm still kicking myself for options I neglected to consider. Otherwise, I love my F30. If you can't change your purchase order, enjoy the ride and weigh your choices in several years when you buy the next car!
Best wishes in your new car!

Luckily I was able to stop my order before it was too late! The broker was not too happy to say the least. I sacrificed by $250 retainer, but it was worth it.
I ended up getting a M-Sport absolutely fully loaded. I had a little bit of buyers remorse sense it ended up being $53k MSRP, but I'm happy with my decision now. I literally got it built exactly how I wanted, and hey its just money, right?
I figure for $100/month more I'm getting every feature I could ever want in a car! Just one less night of going out a month, easy enough!
Specs:
Black Sapphire Metallic
Black Dakota Leather
M Sport
Cold Weather Package
Driver Assistance Package
Lighting Package
Premium Package
Technology Package
M Sport Package
Harman Kardon Surround Sound System
Manual Transmission
Now I just have to wait two months, haha!
