Hi all,
I am going round and round in circle but it is so difficult to get any info on where I might be able to get a set of this tool. I am in the process of changing the vanos but my mech won't do it without the locking tool. Can any kind soul here direct me to a site that sell this kit or someone here who might be interested to sell their, please let me know. Thanks.
Alex

Hi Alex
I assume you mean the camshaft timing bridge and locking pin, as seen in this picture.
The BMW tool number is 119130 and for ordering the part is part 83300493749. Not many sites will list BMW special tools but many can get them. I got mine from Schiedmann in Denmark. BMW of South Atlanta or ECS should also be able to get you one. They also fit the S54 from the E46 M3 so they should be available for some time.
There is also a different tool for checking the alignment but you don't need that one from my experience.
I hope this helps.

Hi Chris,
Thank you for the response. I am looking at the Dr. Vanos install odf and they mentioned the same tool but the part number is 11 7 341. I have punched the part number you quoted into schmiedmann but there is no part with that part number. Can you advice if the part number is correct?
Will check the other site. ECS is ECStuning right?
Thanks.

Yes. It is ECS tuning. I had to call Schmiedmann to order it. They don't list it on their site but got one for me. I am sot sure about the tool number you have there mine is definitely the number I gave you. I copied it from the order. It is shown on the ECS Tuning site if you do a search on 11 9 130.

JHi Chris,
I finally found the part I need. Thanks for your help.
The parts are available at Baum Tools and Samstag Sale (BMW Tools). Its not cheap at $219 just for the locking mechanism. I think I need the locking pin as well for TDC locking.
Will give them a call and order from them.

FYI, you can get the s54 one from getbmwparts for 117.00. Then again I am cheap. You can use a drill bit with electrical tape for the locking TDC. Or you can get one off ebay for less than 20.00.
BMW part# 83300493749 when ordering from a dealer.

I paid $126 for an OEM BMW one (bridge and pin) through Schmiedmann. It is a beautifully made tool and looks worth the money.
