My 530ia m60 had a sudden catastrophic
MAF failure yesterday.

Flickering check engine light stalling running
Horrible basically all of a sudden . Limped the car
Home from work it was awful to say the least .

Stomp test said vacuum leak . I just did full intake
Job including rear cover and Tb gaskets a month ago .
Finally disconnected MAF car smoothed out. I guess
A bad MAF can throw 1222 code . It threw me off track for a while.

Took MAF out of my old e36 ( which I miss )
Popped it in and the car runs fine now .
Amazing that the parts are compatable with such
Different engines . My main question is
Will I have any problems if I run the car with this e36 MAF ?

This car is kicking my ass hard , what next ?

That particular air flow meter is the same on all 1993-1995 525i and 325i.
Part # ends in 502. There's absolutely nothing different between the two and you won't run into any issues running one from one car on another. If you do need a spare maf, i have the old one from my 530iT, which is now a 4.0.

Yep, same as Mazduh said above.
The part number between a 530i M60b30 and the vanos M50b25 is the same for the MAF. Hence it runs fine now.
